Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited and the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) formally launched the12th Cycle of Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture at a press conference held at the Berger Seminar Hall of the IAB Centre on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
A jury comprising national and international experts will evaluate the eligible entries. The nomination ends on 17th September whereas the final submission ends on October. The winners are scheduled to be announced in the fourth week of December.
The jury comprises Architects Nahas Ahmed Khalil, Mohammad Shoeb Bhuiyan, Kazi Fida Islam and Nguyen Ha of Vietnam, alongside cinematographer and visual artist Rashed Zaman.
Award Director Architect Moushumi Ahmed presented the team members of the directorate, the rules, submission details and jury panel during the press conference.
Architect Md Muhtasim Galib and Architect S. M. Ehsan ul Haque Shawpnil are serving as deputy award directors.
IAB President Architect Professor Dr Abu Sayeed M Ahmed said the award had recognised the innovative thinking and aesthetic work of Bangladeshi architects for more than two decades.
“This joint initiative between IAB and Berger is not merely a competition, but a platform to encourage sustainable and environmentally friendly architectural practices,” Abu Sayeed said.
Berger Paints Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohsin Habib Chowdhury said architects had played an important role in developing Bangladesh’s architecture and shaping its urban environment.
“Through the 12th BAEA 2026, we aim to highlight the extraordinary talent and achievements of the nation’s best architects,” Mohsin said. Following an open Question – Answer session, the event ended with a group photo and a lunch afterwards.
IAB Vice-President (National) Architect Nowajish Mahbub, Vice-President (International) General Secretary Architect Dr Masud Ur Rashid attended the launch. Berger Paints Bangladesh Chief Business Officer AKM Sadeque Nawaj and Chief Marketing Officer Salahuddin Ahmed were also present alongside officials and IAB members.
